Fees and Charges

Normal Fees and Charges

Fees for anaesthetic services are determined by the type of surgery you are about to undergo and the duration of your operation. Other factors such as emergency surgery and the need for specialised monitoring and other treatments may also incur further fees.

Fees and charges by Axxon Anaesthesia for anaesthetic services are based upon fees recommended by the Australian Medical Association. In most instances the fees charged by Axxon Anaesthesia are substantially less than those recommended by the Australian Medical Association.

No Gap Fees

When the amount your health fund  and Medicare pay toward your anaesthetic services is equal to the recommended fee for your procedure, you will have no gap to pay.

Gap Fees

Gap fees have arisen because of the difference between amounts the health funds and Medicare will pay towards your anaesthetic services, and the recommended fee. GAP fees have arisen because of the progressive lack of indexation of Medicare rebates and health fund repayments.

Known Gap Fees

Certain health funds will rebate you a higher proportion of anaesthetic fees resulting in a lower GAP for you to pay. In order to take advantage of this higher rebate it a requirement that you sign an agreement to pay your gap before your proposed surgery. This is called ‘informed financial consent’. Your health fund will tell you if they participate in ‘KNOWN GAP FEES’.

Discounted Fees

Your account will be forwarded to you soon after your procedure. Substantial discounts may apply for prompt payment.

Overdue accounts

If you are having difficulty in paying your accounts please contact Axxon Health Accounts department on 3214 8555 to make arrangements for payment.
